My Old Dad, upon watching the start of QI, would give a nod and an affirmative declaration to each guest he approved of as Fry introduced them.
“Bill Bailey!” – “Uh-Huh…Good”
“Sean Lock” – “Yes, great”
“Rich Hall” – “Excellent”
etc etc…
I can only imagine the free-style-street-dance he did in his grave last night as each of the episode’s guests were revealed.
I for one, upon hearing the names, groaned like a dog in agony as the trio of bilge was bought forth before me.
“Jimmy Carr!” – A man who still thinks, as a grown man, that alluding to vaginas, blow jobs and anal sex is the height of comic genius.
“Johnny Vegas!” – A joke that wore off a long, long, long, long time ago.
And horror, upon horror, upon horror…
“Sarah Millican!” – Part Alan Carr, part female, “ALL bastard” (to quote Black Books)
Any gem of knowledge, any perfectly pitched impression from Sir Fry will have to be lost forever. Even Fry’s epic power at being a Human being isn’t enough to make me sit through any amount of time with those three calorific pies of nightmarish shit.
I immediately ran to the shower to wash my eyes, and through my soapy, bloody tears I started to compile my dream QI panel. Some may have already been on and I’ve forgotten, some SHOCK me that they havent already appeared. All are alive.

Hey Hannah, totally agree with you here. What about Simon Pegg for the list?
SIMON PEGG! YES!
And Will Self. I think Will Self should be on pretty much any and every panel show. And news show. And children’s TV show.
AGREED!
Benedict Cumberbatch. I should have known.
Did you know that Michael Palin was originally intended to host, with Stephen Fry as one team captain and Alan Davies the other?
Yes, I think I did know that. You can’t imagine it now can you?
Oooh I didn’t know that! Delighted you have Chris Packham on the list! I think the
Armstrong and Miller chaps would be good. They are brainy! Ohhh wasn’t there an episode where Ben Miller was on there with his older self Rob Brydon and they had a pash up?! Maybe I should check that happened for real and not just in my head before I post this!
Im pretty sure they have both been on….Miller has defo as you didnt dream that entire episode, IT HAPPENED. Though I personally dont think they look anything alike.
I have to disagree with the Sarah Millican one, I love her! She is one of the few female comedians who don’t grate on me. Simon Anstell for the dream QI panel list!
*inhales all air in the universe and does biggest huff in world* Millican is a dirty word in my household! Simon Amstel would be good, I agree with you on that
Brian Cox has been on now! Take that, universe, you shit!
